Citizen Science and Community Governance in the Rize and Auzon Rivers
As part of the project, various citizen science initiatives have been carried out across two French watercourses undergoing ecological restoration: the Rize and Auzon rivers, both tributaries of the Rhône River.
Actions in the Rize River Basin
The Rize River, located in the Lyon metropolitan area, hosted a series of interdisciplinary art-and-science workshops last June. Subsequently, in September—following a public information meeting on the commencement of river restoration works—a new project phase was launched: participatory monitoring of the river’s transformation by local stakeholders and citizens.

Actions in the Auzon River Basin: Riparian Assembly
Meanwhile, the Auzon River basin (located in southeastern France) held a participatory riparian assembly in July in the municipality of Mazan. The event provided a community gathering space combining local storytelling, artistic expressions, and participatory debates, laying the groundwork for establishing a permanent governance structure dedicated to the care of the river.
